Okay, this was a somewhat strange story within this series of mostly fun, light reads. It didn't have the sense of humor most of the others showed, instead, it had a pretty serious and tense storyline about Misha, who needs protection, and Ifan, his new mate. Among all the 'forced' matings (even if the council of Elders refuses to see them that way), this is the one I found most difficult to accept. Granted, Misha needs a strong partner for protection. But hasn't he been abused enough? Now he is just 'given' a mate?

Luckily, Misha is a dreamwalker and has had some time to acquaint himself with his future mate. The concept of a dreamwalker is interesting, and combined with the power of 'suggestion', it makes for a pretty effective tool.

Ifan is just the right partner for Misha, but that was luck more than design by the Elders. I liked the way he managed to deal with his disappointment of no longer being alone, even though it takes him a while to adapt. At least he is willing to make changes, as willing as he is to fight for Misha.

If you like to see 'the strong silent type' matched with a talented but slightly lost psychic who needs protection and support, you will probably like this story. ( )
