Best-selling author Bronwyn Chase never quite fit in with the 21st century. On a publicity trip to New York City, a mysterious woman claiming to be a mystic from Bronwyn’s past gives her a silver knights spur. Asked to save Euric, a man she never knew existed, Bronwyn finds herself transported to 12th-century Cornwall. Landing at the feet of an entranced Euric, she discovers the instant connection she feels to him comes from a midsummer rite gone horribly awry on the eve of her birth. Forced to face a dark wicce who plans to use Euric for her own nefarious ends, Bronwyn summons her own mystical birthright to free him.  … (altro)

Review:

"Spur of the Moment" by Candace C. Bowen was a wonderfully written novel. The character, Bronwyn Chase was indeed a very interesting one being a 'Best-selling author' where I liked her very quickly in this fast read. This was a amazing novel of this writers life here and in the future where you find the plot very enriched in details. You will find this novel with romance, science fiction, historical facts, fantasy, paranormal, vengeance, magic, friendship, true love, loyalty and adventure all rolled together giving us a excellent read. This author's imagination is definitely unbelievable. The characters are all very well developed, realistic and captivating helping to deliver a well written script to the reader. We find this writer...Bronwyn Chase who had been raised in many different foster homes...now, she is on her way to New York to do an interview. In New York she meets the driver and goes to dinner...then that is when 'some crazy old lady' is following her...why is this? The story will take off from there and this is where I say you must pick up "Spur of the Moment" to find out how this author is give you the where, when, why and who of it all in the great read. Among this Bronwyn will find out much about her life she never knew. I found "Spur of the Moment" not only a great read that held my interest until the end but also I found this novel very beautifully well crafted and I would recommend this novel as a excellent read. Merry Meet!

This is such an enchanting story! I believe that is was so enjoyable that I may have to read it again.
Bronwyn is a sweet young author that has an overwhelming shyness. Albert is a wonderful, colorful character that gives stability and love to Bronwyn. Euric is a powerful but amazingly sensitive young man with all the right priorities to capture a girls heart..I love the mix of old and new, magic and God, good and bad...I really enjoy a book that has a definitive end...(especially fitting ones)

Marry Part!! ( )

Great read! Especially for anyone that likes paranormal romance. The book had lots of twists and turns. It took place in two different centuries. It easily combined History, Paranormal, Romance, and Mystery. It was full of intrigue and pleasure. I would recommend this book! ( )

*****************

Bronwyn Chase is a popular historical romance writer whose books have consistently made the New York Times bestseller list. Women of various ages love her work, but all the attention Bronwyn receives does little more than overwhelm her. When the story begins, Bronwyn is a young woman who doesn't really live life so much as lets it happen. She's on a plane to New York City, even though she hates planes and would rather stay at home to write, largely due to the demands of her controlling agent.

Throughout her rough childhood, writing was the only thing that brought her peace. All those stories about the medieval world and knights in shining armor came so naturally to her that she often felt more like she belonged in that time period than the 21st century...

Well, as it turns out, that trip to New York City that Bronwyn dreaded so much ends up being exactly what she needed. There she learns that she DOES belong in the 12th century.

First she meets Albert, a chauffeur who quickly becomes one of her closest friends. When she agrees to explore the town with him, she and Albert notice that a beautiful woman wearing a dress from the middle ages keeps popping up everywhere they go and eerily watching from afar, but Albert and Brownyn ignore and soon forget about her as the night goes on.

As soon as Bronwyn is alone, the woman asks a favor of Brownyn that will forever change her life: Can you save my son by winning his heart? However, there's a major problem. Beside having to go back to the 12th century, she has to win the heart of a man who is being bewitched by a sick, powerful wicce...in less than four days.

When it comes to stories that take place in more than one timeline and country and it's well done, I always want to take my hat off to the writer. Candace Bowen Early must've put so much research and time into getting all the facts straight within this story. Of course, having not done the research myself, I can't be certain if the facts are straight, but it's at least straight enough to never knock me out of the story.

I loved when Bronwyn's modern day English threw the people in the 12th century off. The moments of miscommunication and confusion made me smile. I also really liked how Early foreshadowed so many plot points that would prove to be important later. That spur that got Bronwyn to the 12th century? Don't forget it. The power of belief? Don't forget it.

Because I haven't really been a big fan of romance novels since middle school, I'm not sure how much values this holds coming from me, but at some points I felt the romance was too much, almost like I was being force fed how much Bronwyn and Euric loved each other. But I think that was the only problem I really had with the story, and it's a subjective problem anyway.

Early tied the story up really well, so when I read that there would be a sequal - Wicked Embers - I was wondering how that could work. Then I learned that it would be told from the point of view of a minor character introduced near the end of this book. I love when authors do that. It makes the story's world seem so much larger, and I know I'm excited to give the second book a try. ( )

Romance and magic intertwine in Candace Bowen Early’s SPUR OF THE MOMENT.

When best-selling historical romance author Bronwyn Chase meets a mysterious mystic from the past, Browyn’s life changes on the spin of a knight’s spur. She is transported to 12th-century Cornwall, where she discovers she’s fated to love a knight named Euric. There’s one problem. He’s under a curse from a dark witch. Bronwyn must call upon her own mystical birthright to find a way to free him, or else.

SPUR OF THE MOMENT shows how soul mates can withstand the fates, distance, and time. The plot is well-developed and has a beautiful circularity to it. The hints at the historical along with our own modern age add to this fantasy romance. The mysticism and magic intrigue and delight in their elements of old traditions and religions. The characters can be beautiful, stubborn, unyielding, and magical. I enjoyed the fast-paced and fated romance between Bronwyn and Euric, although I wish we could’ve savored their romance a bit more. Early does a fantastic job at making the reader ache along with Bronwyn when everything changes for her again. The first part of the novel is a bit too fast at times, but the second half is perfect.

For a beautiful romance with a touch of the historical and fantasy read SPUR OF THE MOMENT by Candace Bowen Early. It’ll sweep you away to a magical world with the spin of a spur and the flash of a moment. ( )
