I think they were meant for a younger generation than mine but still hugely enjoyable. In my opinion, the best one of all was 'Take Your Best Shot' but all of them were very good. A special mention for 'A Ride on the Dumbwaiter' and 'The Haunted Schoolhouse'. In most of the stories the author takes normal life 'with a twist' which makes them plausible but strange. Much better than tales that can lose the interest because they are so ridiculous. A recommended read. Questa recensione è stata scritta per Recensori in anteprima di LibraryThing. This book was reminiscent of Goosebumps and brought me back to my childhood. While not all of the stories are 'supernatural,' they're definitely all well-written and unique. I loved the opening story. It really did give me chills.Questa recensione è stata scritta per Recensori in anteprima di LibraryThing. Night Visions contains eleven suspenseful stories for all ages. Most of the stories feature ghosts or a touch of the supernatural and would be ideally suited to be told around camp fires. But the two stories that stood out for me were actually those which stayed with both legs in reality."The Girl Who Painted Raindrops" is about a girl who has the ability to paint nature scenes that are normally ignored by everyone, such as a mountain in a mist, whose paintings were disfigured by her well-meaning cousin. And it is an act of kindness and not supernatural, that lets her realise her dream. "The Children of Winter" is about a woman who lives alone and is said to have a special magic, with which she can create children from snow who would help her through winter. This story attracts the children of the town and they decide to help her get ready for winter, so that the snow children could come to have fun. The snow children never show up but the town children have the time of their lives. I can definitely recommend this short story collection for everyone who likes gripping and suspenseful tales. Questa recensione è stata scritta per Recensori in anteprima di LibraryThing. Tales to tell around a camp fire......or a dark, stormy night. This stories will send chills down your spine. These are not your typical ghost stories.Rachel wants to study art with the great Professor Le Bron. When an opening becomes available, her cousin, who is his student, gets her an interview. Off Rachel goes to the city. While sleeping, her cousin "improves" the painting. How can Le Bron see through her work? A ghost, living in the only schoolhouse in a coal town, comes to the rescue of two children trying to get to their father, who was caught in a cave-in. What does Ransom, the dog, know about his owner's murder, that others don't? How did Aunt Molly's ruby and diamond necklace disappear on Christmas Eve? Where do the snow children come from who visit Mrs. Hobbleberry every winter to help her with chores? These, and 6 more tales, will keep you up at night reading this book. Anyone, from young adults to seniors will love this book, especially if you like books that are spooky. A very fast read, as you won't be able to put it down. I highly recommend it and look forward to reading other books by Jackie Vivelo. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

In my opinion, the stories were not at all gripping and therefore i got two thirds of the way into the book (in the hope of it improving) and gave up. I love short stories and ghost stories but unfortunately this just wasn't the book for me. ( )
