Very good book, quite funny with a lot of details about her upbringing and less of a focus on her condition. ( )

I like Jenny Lawson as a writer. I appreciate her humor & her battle with chronic illnesses & mental health issues. However, I’m glad I read this after Broken. Let me back up. I read this back in the early teens. I remember liking it a whole lot, the humor, the wackyness of the situations she found herself in. It was great. However, just now I listened to the book & found it a little grating. It’s my fault for listening at 1&1/2 speed probably. Her antics, which seemed funny when I read it, just wore me out. She was constantly “on”. It was like listening to a parrot squawking at you constantly while it dive bombs your head. Don’t get me wrong, that wasn’t a dig at her voice, it was more commentary about how everything was a one liner & it drilled itself into my brain like a sledgehammer.

I’m giving the book (not the audio) 4⭐️’s. I liked this a lot when I read it & I really loved her stories about growing up. I am, however, glad she’s mellowed a bit over the years. ( )

Well, gosh, there are a lot of "nearly killing ourselves as kids in texas" and taxidermy stories in this book that are amazingly familiar to me. Maybe less the taxidermy side, but growing up in rural Texas seems to have more things in common than not. Anyway, Jenny Lawson is hilarious. Her long-suffering husband seems to have brought his suffering on himself. And I can't help but admire a woman who can be so frank about her own physical and mental health challenges. What an astonishing memoir. ( )

Loved it. Jenny has a great sense of humor. The book is a mix of laughs, tears, and lessons. This is a MUST read! ( )

HYSTERICAL! I was up reading this at 3am and could not contain myself. I laughed so hard I was cried and cried and cried while gasping for breath. Women will find this funnier than men. While some of it is not so funny, the parts that are will almost kill you. ( )
