An interesting topic, but I don't feel that Ryan really did it justice. Too much irrelevant detail, too little done to bring out coherent themes and analysis. Some of the descriptions of the author's feelings, what they ate at interviews, and so on, could well have been replaced by a deeper analysis.

That said, I think Ryan did a good job of tracing links between different groups internationally, and between the right and other movements. He hints a few times at parallels between left-wing extremists (especially anti-capitalists and environmentalists) and the extreme right - I think that these hints should either have been left out or expanded.
