This book digs into the truth of who we really are as women. The author leads us through a variety of stories about how the misconceptions that looks and outer beauty can falsely characterize who we are. She describes how true value and inner beauty define who we really are as children of God.

Fierce Beauty is a collection of true stories of the author, Kim Meeder, and others in her life. After each story there was a spiritual encouragement, steamed from the circumstance in her story.
Kim Meeder is a wonderful story teller with the ability to paint a wonderful picture in your mind, though at times it was difficult to invision with to much detail.
I would recommend this to women who are looking for encouragement in life's struggles.

Kim Meeder is a riveting story-teller who writes about her passion for the beautiful outdoors, high-adventure, horses, and people. Each chapter of Fierce Beauty is a story from her life, be it one of her incredible adventures or a changed life at her ranch. Kim and her husband run the Crystal Peaks Youth Ranch, an organization that rescues abused horses and pairs them with children in need. She uses these anecdotes from her life to draw you in and then wraps up each one with a spiritual truth. I have never read any of Meeder’s other books, but I plan to head to the store tomorrow to buy another one. I loved the descriptions of her adventures. I was glued to the book, eager to read where the turn of a page would take me. Quite often, though, I would have to put the book down for several days after reading a couple of chapters because the spiritual truths hit me deep and I needed to spend time pondering them. “My unfaithfulness to Him did not change, hinder, or diminish His faithfulness to me. He has been and always will be the only immovable truth we will ever know.” (p. 83) “This world defines peace as the absence of conflict, but God’s peace is confident assurance in any circumstance.” (p. 90) “It’s an amazing truth that out of our King’s great mercy, He delivers us through our suffering so that our past hurts can heal others’ futures.” (p. 151)

I selected this book for possible use with my Bible study group. Although I enjoyed the stories about Kim Meeder and the spiritual encouragement that she gave through her testimony, I would have a to add a lot of questions and scripture before I could make it into an effective study.

If you are looking for a biographical profile to encourage you in your Christian walk, Fierce Beauty is a great book to read. ( )

Fierce Beauty is compelling on several levels, even when read in snatches in a busy schedule.

The theme thrusts forth the challenge of absolute devotion to our Savior, Jesus Christ, or of pathetic devotion to self and to the image the world creates to be worshiped. Kim Meeder subtly, and sometimes shockingly, explores the dark corners in our hearts with illustrations from her life and with compassionate stories of those she has met. Each gem speaks eloquently and sharply about life lessons of brokenness and healing, of pain and trust that sustains. The author is powerfully descriptive in her illustrations. Scriptures undergird the whole; and woven throughout this work is an allegory which reminds one of Pilgrims Progress.

Joy is a bubbling undercurrent in the entire book, and why not - it is the gift of the Spirit. Women of all ages will benefit from reading and pondering the pages of this book, that reminds us all of the spiritual battle we are in, whether we realize it or not. May God open our eyes to His work in everything. ( )
