There's also one spread each for "very quick" (e.g. the Shasta salamander, the amphibian with the "world's fastest tongue," can snap up an insect in 1/100 of a second) and "very long" (e.g. an ocean quahog lived to be 405 years old - an animal world record). Some facts are fascinating, some sobering ("In one week, human development destroys an area of forest equal in size to 550,000 football fields"). Back matter includes "a history of the universe" (spiraling out from the Big Bang), a chart of Earth's human population 1750-2050, plant and animal life spans, and a "history of time and timekeeping," as well as additional reading and "a note about the facts and figures in this book."

Summary: This book explores a series of quick facts that young minds may find interesting. It also has amazing graphics that students would find engaging.
Thoughts: I really liked all of the books I picked. but I really liked this book because it had a plethora of information and helped students discover new things without being overwhelmed by reading. I also really liked this book because it didn't not require lots of reading and students could explore many facts at once.

This book explains the concept of time through seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years, and more. It explains things that can happen in that amount of time. For instance, the book talks about how a cheetah can immediately start sprinting in one second or an adult's heart can beat about 70 times. ( )
