This booklet is certainly a departure for the Thriller writer William Le Queux. Having written 200 plus books on the subjects of crime,spying and romance,he now turns his hand to that of travel. The resort of Interlaken is his base and he writes very well about the place and the surrounding area. Whereas the towns and villages are much as we know them today,when he talks about (for instance)the cost of excursions,well things have changes just a little. "Let us consider cost again. In these days of enforced economy,one has to measure one's pocket,therefore it may be of interest to note that four very delightful excursions - namely,to the Grindelwald Glacier;to Lauterbrunnen and the Trummelbach Falls;to Thun and St.Beatenberg;and the ascent of the Schynige-Platte-all of which are in themselves worth the journey from England to see,cost me only thirty-two shillings and sixpence ". Well you can't grumble at that can you.
All-in-all a delightful little book which shows yet another facet of Le Queux's talent. ( )
