When Cinderella puts her shoe in the glass slipper, the entire family knows that she was the girl at the ball who left them speechless. The sisters begged for forgiveness and of course with the kind heart of Cinderella she forgave them. The prince and Cinderella went on do being the kindest people the town has ever been ruled by. The main message I take from this book is how to be humble and how to forgive. No matter how many times Cinderella is asked to do a task, she does it knowing that this is her place. She does everything to the best of her ability while knowing she is going to be okay. She shows true humility when she is at the ball as well. She does show more confidence when she asks to try on the slipper, but that is what love can do to a person. Cinderella also teaches people how to forgive because of the way she forgave her step sisters. Her step sisters treated her extremely poorly, but she still forgave them at the end of the story. Overall, fairytales like this can teach people of all ages how to forgive and how to be humble. ( )

This book told a really good story on how if you stick to who you truly believe you are than good things will come for you. In this version of cindrella, the step mother and sisters were so mean to her and told her many times that she could never go anywhere for how she looked. Of course the fairy god mother comes in and lets cinderella go to two balls. It was at the second dance where she lost her shoes. However, in the end when the prince finds out who cinderella really is, the step-sisters beg for forgivness. Cinderella being the kind hearted person she is forgives them and says it is all okay. This would be a really good story to teach to my class by showing them to always forgive people and to be kind to everyone around you. Good things happen to those that are kind and do the right thing. ( )

"Cinderella" is my all time favorite fairytale. Her father remarries and passes away. The evil stepmother takes over and makes Cinderella her maid to her and her daughters. She runs into the prince of the land and he doesn't know who she is so he throws a ball in order to find her. She can't go to the ball because she is forbidden by her stepmother and she has no beautiful gown to wear like everyone else. She gets a fairy Godmother who makes it possible for her to attend the ball. No one knows who she is. All that matters is she returns home for midnight. She leaves behind a glass slipper, so the prince goes around to every house in the land to find the beautiful woman he met at the ball. When he goes to her house, she tells them she wants to try it on and its a perfect fit. The prince finds his true love and they live happily ever after. This plot is the same in all Cinderella fairytales. No matter how many times or cultures it is made in. The stepdaughter is always the slave of the stepmother and stepsisters. But in the end she finds her love and lives happily ever after. The illustrations beautifully portray each event that takes place in the story from the time she was a cinder girl to the time she became the new queen. ( )

I did not like this book overall. I found it to be boring and it to have too many words comapared to pictures. It is very formal compared to other Cinderella books. I would reccomend it to second or third graders. ( )

Cinderella is a fun story to work with, especially in the upper grades. My favorite activity is to read the book and discuss what they enjoyed, did not like, and what they would change. Then allow the students to take to story of Cinderella a rewrite it in a different location in a different time. Creativity really begins to shine through this activity! ( )
