The background leading into this story from Getting Off the Ground is- Elliot and Derek meet in an airport terminal, both on their way to Hawaii. Elliott was stood up at the altar by his ex, Ben, but decides to take his Honolulu honeymoon anyway. Derek convinces him to change his plans and come to Maui with him. Elliott, a complete and total planner, decides to throw caution to the wind and does just that.
This book is character driven, with a slow build-up of the two men’s relationship. At first, they’re both enjoying the fantastic sex with each other, but then each starts to reveal more about himself. I loved the way the author drew the MCs closer and closer together. It was subtle, until the shock hits each man when they realize they’ve fallen in love. There isn’t much angst in this book except at the end when Elliot and Derek face the end of their two-week vacation.
This is a story about discovery, fun, growth and change. I love character driven stories and really enjoyed this one. There are a few grammar mistakes, mostly missing words, which appear during the last quarter of the book. I would’ve preferred this was written in third person, first person is never my first choice, but other than that, Infinity Pools was exactly the kind of book I like to read. I give this story 5 Stars and think it’s better than the first one in the series. I’ll definitely be reading the continuation, which is called On the List.
