Lilly wanted a real family that was bigger then just her and her mother. That night they went to family fun night at her school. There she realized that her friends have different types of families as well just like her. After family fun night she realized that her and her mom is all she needed.

This book can open up many important discussion that is related to families. Lily was upset with her family status, just having a mom only. However, Lily found out not every family is like Melissa's. Lily learned to value each family at the family fun night has the unique family, and they are still happy. This book reminded of many families in my classroom as well. Everyone has a unique family; we should respect and understand the cultures.
I will read this book with the Pre-k to Kindergarten.
