a couple of times during this series I actually gasped outloud and that is always a good sign for a book. the characters were enjoyable and I liked how toward the end of the series I started to actually root for one of the "bad guys" (though not the main baddie of course). ( )

Eindelijk dit boek uitgelezen, wat best wel een lange weg was. 3 Sterren voor dit boek, hoewel ik er liever 2 1/2 voor gaf.

De namen van de karakters waren zo verwarrend dat ik de meeste tijd bezig gewoon niet wist over wie ik nu weer aan het lezen was. Normaal gesproken heb je karakters in een verhaal waar je wat mee voelt. Niet in dit geval.

Ook de wereld was best lastig opgebouwd, regelmatig moest ik dan weer even de kaart raadplegen voor ik weer verder kon met het boek.
Tegen het einde van het boek was het me nog steeds niet duidelijk WAT er nu precies gebeurd was. ( )

Three starts for a two star story for the simple fact that it is an easy read. I know a lot of people had trouble with the names of the characters and the locations. I luckily had no issue keeping them straight. No, I had to stop reading because it was just plain boring. Two hundred pages in and I came to the irrefutable conclusion that I did not care about the characters or the story as it was unfolding slowly in front of me.

Major complaint: the whole reason I picked this book up off a random shelf was the whole idea of the godless world, and in two hundred pages that never even so much as gets mentioned outside of the prologue, and even then it's a line item blurb. Maybe they didn't something incredible with it toward the end of the book. I wasn't sticking around to find out. ( )

A world where the gods made 4 races. One went bad and the other 3 banded together and committed genocide, then turned on each other. The gods left the world in sorrow. One race disappeared, 1 split into factions and went to the woods and the third, the humans, split into medieval style clans. This is the story about the possible fulfillment of a prophecy stating the gods would return.

Honestly, very little grand" magic, more of a blood and mud medieval story. Follows a clan that is almost wiped out. It wasn't bad, it just seemed very slow and boggy reading. Since the library doesn't have the next book, doubt I'll read it." ( )

This book is about the renaissance during the winter. A war is happening and people are getting prepared for Winterbirth. There are multiple characters impersonating in the story. There is an enemy called the Black Road army. The Black Road army has been exiled and is now going to take over the land of the true-bloods. The winters there are harsh and deadly. The land that this takes place in is True-bloods land.
I liked this book a lot. Its full of action and adventure. I liked how the Black Road was exiled and they are coming back to take revenge. The land of the True bloods is having to through a serious fight with the Black Road army. The people go through drama and have to join together alliances no matter what to defeat the Black Road army. Its cool how a deep storm comes to them with the rage of battle. I like how the one person (not naming him so you can read it) follows a path that will make him corrupted and with lead him to a bloody legacy. ( )
