Presenting diverse languages, this informational picture book contains visual puzzles to engage the reader in finding the unique object on the page. Readers must scan the multi-colored paper collages highlighted with puffy paint to search for differences within similar objects. Unfortunately, the layout of the text and images thwarts the out-loud reader from reading through the text describing the highlighted language repeating the phrase, “Can you find me?” before enthusiastic listeners will shout out, “That one…it’s that one!” as they find the distinctive object on the page. It would be helpful if the layout was reversed and the descriptive text was presented before flipping the page to the “I-spy” type image search. A key in the back matter of the book identifies the unique item from each image, but sometimes it is difficult to ascertain why the object is dissimilar from the rest. This is a not a book to underscore multi-cultural differences, it is an explanatory text with minimal representations of a few obscure languages that children will find somewhat dull and at times confusing. Sorry, you’re not that different, and I’m having a hard time finding you. ( )

I like this book because it is interactive and educational. When you incorporate the activity, it takes the boring element out of learning.
