The humor continues as Samuel, Boswell and others (most notably four outrageously funny dwarfs) are transported to Hell and have to find their way home. Just remember that Hell is not a nice place to be. Cheers with a Spiggit's Old Peculiar! ( )

This is another one of those books that makes me consider apocalyptic comic fantasy my favorite genre. Samuel only continues to be lovable, and I hope any future children of mine are as good-hearted, brave, complex, and good at saving the world as he is. ( )

For some reason I found this book a lot more enjoyable to read than the first one in the series. Maybe it was because I read this one at home rather than at work during lunch hour, maybe my brain was just in the right mood for a quick trip to Hell, or maybe the story was actually better. I'm pretty sure that it was more situational than the actual content of the book (I still found the footnotes super annoying, since they didn't add much to the story), but I definitely found this an easy and engaging read. Obvious Boswell, Samuel's adorable little daschund, is still my favourite character, but the ornery posse of dwarfs gave him a good run in terms of character development! ( )

Sequel to The Gates. Funny and horrifying and almost as good as the first one. ( )

This was a fun book to read. Monty Python humor prevalent throughout. I like the footnotes added throughout the book. Great for whiling away the time. ( )
