This is the fourth book in the Kyle Swanson series written by real life Retired Marine Sniper Jack Coughlin. Using his real life knowledge and experiences in the push to Iraq and other missions around the world, he infuses his stories of information that brings realism and credibility to the issues and resolutions that are discussed. This fast-paced roller coaster of action, espionage, and intrigue is an amazing thrill ride that will grab you as the first shots ring out to the final showdown, like an old western.
Because of the major backstories that are covered in the previous three books, there is not a great deal of explanation for the way things are with certain characters so to fully enjoy and understand everything in the book, it is highly recommended that anyone interested in this book begin with the first of the series and work your way up. Believe me, you won’t regret it. Also, there is a good deal of military jargon that good readers can infer the meaning of most times. However, because of my military background I was able to understand, but some of it might be a bit difficult for readers unfamiliar with the military system, jargon, and some acronyms used throughout. Worst case, if you come across this issue, I would recommend having a phone nearby where you can look it up online.
While there is not a great deal of violence, keep in mind this is a American military sniper novel that portrays the actions and adventures of a highly trained Marine Corps Sniper. There might be some scenes of violence that could turn a few stomachs of those a bit more squeamish than others. Just be prepared for a bit of description of painful injuries and a few instances of graphic hand-to-hand combat descriptions.
Overall, this book was well written just like the other three. Anyone who is remotely a fan of modern military fiction or just likes a good fast-paced action book will more than enjoy this one. Good huntings! ( )
