It's about time to re-read and see if it holds up. ( ) In the early 1920's, a young woman from New York, well born and intellectually gifted, falls in love with and marries a young man from rural West Virginia. She accompanies him to his family home but the relationship quickly unravels, leaving her with two young children to raise alone. Essentially, the story is of the dissonance between this young family with liberal views and considerable intellectual accomplishment and the rural, fundamentalist and often bigoted community in which they dwell. Mosby's voice is lyrical and poignant with a gift for evocative detail that makes the story live. Dramatic shifts in point of view as the narrative unfolds can sometimes be a little unsettlling but this one is worth reading simply for its use of the language. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
