Did I just read a work by Aaron? Or did someone just put his name on the front cover for giggles?
I've been reading 'Wolverine and the X-men' and the writing is really good, the story is engaging and memorable, but 'Wolverine Goes to Hell'?? Well I think the title sums it up pretty well. Wolverine does go to hell, this story was so disengaging and forgettable.
As a Wolverine fan I was hoping that this would be, I don't know, amazing (?), I just thought things would have gone down a little less predictably. (Then again I may be putting too much faith in Wolverine, after all his usual cut and kill style is pretty predictable.)
The only thing that really held this up for me was art, although nothing revolutionary, it was good to look at and where the story became boring, the art was colourful and distracting.
Certainly not the best Wolverine comic, but also not the most disliked one. ( )

Like the title of this TPB collection implies, in this book Wolverine goes to Hell. It takes place after the Wolverine Origins saga, so he knows how he is, his past, etc.

It takes place on two 'planes of existence', let's call them. Half of the story takes place in Hell where the Devil is trying to break Wolverine's soul, and the other half on Earth where Wolverine's body is being possessed by quite the mean spirited Demon who is on a rampage against anyone Wolverine has ever loved.

It was a gory and disturbing story, cringe worthy at times. And definitely intense. Both on Earth and in Hell.

It was interesting to see all the people from Wolverine's past though. And it's always interesting to see where Mystique winds up on the good guy/bad guy scale during a story.

I didn't like most of the art, it was a bit too grainy for my liking. I really like clean lines and coloring within those lines a bit better than the rough look. ( )
