I really liked this book, even though I find most informational books dry and boring. Even though it is nonfiction, it was very engaging, the writing was well organized and proper for the desired reader age, and the illustrations and pictures really enhanced the story. The first reason I really liked this book was the fact that this author wrote this book to be very engaging even though she writes about history and new facts about the clay soldiers. Most authors just put in fact after fact and drone on about a certain subject, but this author talks about many sub-subjects and still keeps it engaging. One example of this is that she asks the reader questions to relate the book to everyday life. The next reason I liked this book is the way the author organized her book to include facts without making it seem like there were too many, which in turn allowed this book to stay on grade level. One example of this is when she is talking about how the soldiers were placed in the pits; she does not use any un-necessary or big words and states how big the biggest pit is by comparing it to football fields. The final reason I liked this book was how detailed, colorful and clear both the images and the illustrations were. A clear example of this is when she is describing the pit sizes; she shows each of the pits to scale next to the others, allowing the reader to see how much smaller one of the pits is compared to the others. The main idea for this book is that history is important, as it teaches us about different cultures and how they worked years ago. ( ) nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
