Kathleen Eagle transforms the title of a Dixie Chicks’ song into a wonderful albeit somewhat lightweight romantic novel featuring the likeable characters of Skyler and Trace. Skyler is an older woman with a past, a late husband, debts, and a love of horses. Trace is the younger rodeo cowboy with miles of cocky swagger who catches her eye from behind the camera lens. (Skyler is freelance photographer hoping to make some extra money.) Trace and Skyler hit it off immediately. Their chemistry literally jumps off the page as much as their coy dialogue--some phrases are so ripe with double meaning you’ll giggle. Ms. Eagle certainly has a way words, and developing likeble characters. This story is all about two adults taking a chance, and going in a direction they usually avoid. It’s a fun read without as much of the middle-act heartbreak that some romance novels include. If you love a good romance novel, handsome cowboys, and ladies who take a chance on love, “Cowboy, Take Mme Away” is the book for you! ( ) This book started out really strong for me. I was enjoying the setting and both main characters. But halfway through the heroine drops a bomb on the hero that really turned me off. I would eventually like to finish the book, but I'm setting it aside for now. Hopefully a little distance will allow me to get past what the heroine did and the hero's reaction to it. Eagle is always thoughtful and delightful, but it seems to me that the category length constrains her. I'm enjoying the series of books she's writing now, with glimpses into the worlds of wild mustangs, disability issues (not in this book) and more. But. The banter in this book almost overcame the story and I ended up hungry for more. She's still way better than most of what's out there. COWBOY,TAKE ME AWAY by Kathleen Eagle is an interesting Heart & Warm, contemporary romance from Harlequin set in present day Sheridan,Wyoming. The plot is interesting, and easy to follow. The characters are lovable, engaging, and will capture your heart. This is a story of angst, heartbreak, taking wild chances, rodeo, horses, romance, and second chances. "When photographer Skyler Quinn first fixed her lens on gorgeous cowboy Trace Wolf Track, she liked what she saw but didn't give it much thought. Until everywhere she went - the rodeo, the Double D Wild Horse Sanctuary - there he was, and the heat between them built to the boiling point. As a widow struggling with debts and loyalties from a former life, Skyler needed to stay focused, especially if she wanted to achieve her dream of becoming a mother. Was Trace a fatal distraction, a mere summer fling? Or did this younger man - so deep, so passionate - hold the key to a future that would make all her dreams come true?" -- Cover verso.
