2023 Reprint of the 1946-1947 Edition. Two Volumes bound in one. Full facsimile of the original edition and not reproduced with Optical Recognition Software. What Christian doctrine has more far reaching consequences than that of the Incarnation of the Son of God? Intimately associated with this mystery is the divine motherhood of the Blessed Virgin. Its profound depths and lofty heights have never been more thoroughly studied than by the renowned Theologian who is the author of this book. Mary's place in the divine scheme of our redemption is one of the great mysteries of our faith. In penetrating this religious mystery, the human mind reaches limits beyond which it cannot go. But the region this side of such limits is exhaustively explored in MARIOLOGY. Devotion to the Mother of God appears early in the history of the Church and has grown century after century. Here, in MARIOLOGY, we find explained the doctrinal basis and justification of for the importance of Mary. Scheeben is one of the few men who deserve to be called great theologians. His extensive familiarity with the writings of the Church Fathers, which are the background of his theological thinking, makes him a reliable witness to the cumulative testimony of tradition. Then he further elaborates this patristic evidence. But Scheeben does not ignore the scholastic theologians, adducing again and again the reasoning and the very words of St. Thomas Aquinas. These two traits, dependence on the Fathers And his own development of their teaching, is strikingly evident in his MARIOLOGY, the second volume of which is devoted entirely to a study of Mary's fullness of grace and her office of Mediatrix. With admirable completeness he treats the dogma of the Immaculate Conception, the proof of it, and the significance of the controversy about it. This second volume contains an index to both volumes. Whoever wishes to be fully instructed about the greatness of the Blessed Virgin will not fail do study Scheeben's MARIOLOGY. Contents: Contents: v. 1. The concept and sources of Mariology. Christological foundations of Mariology. The basic principle of Mariology - v. 2. Mary, full of grace. Mary the mediatrix.
