Kindergaters work hard in Miss Harmony's class expect for one gator, Harry. Harry is constantly interrupting, distributing and invading his classmates personal space. His classmates are annoyed by it. Miss Harmony gives her students a chance to express how Harry is making them feel. The students and Miss Harmony work on Harry's personal space issues together. This story is a good lesson to teach preschoolers and kindergaters about personal space. Rosemary Wells is an author that writes about everyday issues that people face in their lives. The style of the Rosemary Wells in this particular book is that she uses Alligators as characters to address every day issues that children face in their every day lives. ( )

Hands Off, Harry!, is a book about an alligator who has a difficult time playing and working with his classmates in an appropriate manner. He has a hard time following the rules and listening to the teacher. Harry is put in the thinking chair so he can reflect on his actions, but he does not use the thinking chair properly. Until his entire class explains to them how they feel his behavior is affecting them does Harry understand how he needs to change. This is a good book to have in your classroom library in the first couple weeks of school to teach students basic rules on being respectful. I liked the illustrations in this book and it had some humor. It is a good book to use when creating a community in the classroom. ( )

In Kindergators Hands Off, Harry!, Harry has a hard time playing well with his classmates and following the classroom rules. He pushes, pokes at, and tackles his classmates and does not listen when the teacher sends him to the thinking chair. After all of the students share how his behavior makes them feel, he tries to get another chance by being the playground monitor. On the playground he is being helpful and friendly, apologizing to all of his classmates.

Summary:
This book is about a little alligator named Harry and how he has a hard time respecting the children space. How he learns to respect and be nice to others.

Personal Reaction:
I really liked this book and thought it was really cute. I enjoyed the pictures and how the book would help children understand the importance of personal space.

Classroom Extensions:
Have the children write about a time someone did not play nicely with them.
Use this book as a example of what has happened in the classroom and how we should be nice and help each other.
