Max Bollinger’s acting ability comes to the fore in this delightful presentation of Anton Chekov’s Trilogy “About Truth, Freedom and Love”. His individual voices for the characters of the stories are expertly portrayed and convincingly expressed. The rich language of the stories merits repeated listening as there is so much “meat” that I feel that I may have missed some of the subtle nuances of the text. I think that to appreciate all the literary qualities of these stories I need to listen to them again. And, of course, it is always a pleasure to listen to Max Bollinger’s atmospheric Russian/English theatrical voice dramatically reading Chekov. ( )
Chekhov's stories are about nothing and everything. This trilogy has the timeless simplicity of what Nabokov called Chekhov's "dove-grey world": the lives of ordinary people set in the extraordinary expanse of Russia's landscape and altering skies. But in the unrequited longings of the characters' souls, in their quiet tragedies and in their questioning of truth, freedom, love and happiness, the stories are lifted to another plane. Russian-born Max Bollinger whose passion for Chekhov is palpable, is perfect reader.
The third book in the series of Chekhov's Short Stories featuring a trilogy of interlinked stories about Truth, Freedom and Love. First published in 1898 in Russian and released as separate stories. This title brings the short novels together once again and follows Chekhov's original vision. Non sono state trovate descrizioni di biblioteche |
