Even despite the squick factor of Hawke & Sierra being sexually attracted and mostly okay with it even though they notice when she's a child and he's a grown man in charge of a whole community? That's a bit much. But, besides that I didn't get it. Sierra is clearly awesome. Hawke is just a dude in charge and I didn't like him as much as any of the other men in the series. The plot is pretty good, and I like Laura and Walker's relationship development (the Texture of Intimacy novella continues their story). But I don't like Sienna and Hawke's relationship very much. Partly because of the age-gap/power imbalance, partly because of Hawke being a jerk for half of the book. They get better as the series goes on, but they'll never be my favorite couple. (
