A sweet book to introduce children to tolerance and fighting gender stereotypes. ( ) MY PRINCESS BOY discusses a young boy who loves the color pink, dressing up, and climbing trees. It addresses the controversial topic of being open to non-traditional identities and sexuality. I would not "argue that this a story of transitioning as it is careful to separate his gender and pronoun as "he" while his interests are more traditionally "girly". I did enjoy the detail that he had both boy and girl friends and would play dress up and climb trees and his tiara. He was, all in all, just a kid. This story was beautifully written and with understanding and encouragement for support. A simple book that tells the author's story of a son who prefers to dress as a princess, and how the love he receives from his family and friends allow him to be what he wants to be. The faceless figures are powerful, showing how easily people who are different are faced with intolerance and marginalization. Yet this book is light itself, not only through the pictures but through the story itself. This book is a simplified true story about the author's son that likes to wear dresses. It is a book about acceptance. This book is meant to help teach children that there shouldn't be any stipulations placed on friendship. When you love someone you love them no matter what. The book doesn't talk about the child being transgender, so it would be a good book as an introduction to gender identity. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
