Questa recensione è stata scritta per gli Omaggi dei Membri di LibraryThing . A book that should have been around years ago to show rather than theorise geometry. The illustrations are very clear and certainly helped me understand more than I did. A very useful book for mathmaticians and novices who have an interest in factuals ( )Questa recensione è stata scritta per gli Omaggi dei Membri di LibraryThing . This is a visual (rather than a purely mathematical) guide to the world of fractals. You won’t find many equations or algorithms but you will encounter hundreds of pictures, most of them stunning – the few that aren’t turn out to be thumbnails giving constructional details, so it’s all good stuff. This book would find a very happy home on the shelf of an advanced mathematics student who already has the dry mathematical theory texts but who is looking for a visual feast for the eyes, or indeed anyone who has a passing interest in fractal design. Questa recensione è stata scritta per gli Omaggi dei Membri di LibraryThing . I received this book through Member Giveaways and found it to be quite enjoyable. Even with a background in architecture and design instead of math, this book was easy to understand, very interesting, and written with the average person in mind. I have explored fractals as a generative design tool in the past, and this book increased my knowledge and potential to explore fractals again in the future. The generative diagrams are especially helpful and clear. Questa recensione è stata scritta per gli Omaggi dei Membri di LibraryThing . I received this book through Member Giveaways. As someone who is interested in maths and geometry but having not studied maths to a very high level, I found this book very clear, informative and interesting. Baird doesn't go deep into mathematical theory, but different sets and variations of fractals are shown in clear black and white diagrams, often with thumbnails showing closer detail of an area of the fractal. I would recommend this book to those like myself who are interested in fractals but don't know a lot about the subject. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
Two hundred and fifty diagrams illustrate some of the standard fractal types and their variations, with explanatory thumbnails giving constructional details. With an emphasis on illustration rather than mathematics, Alt.Fractals is a fascinating browsing experience for the newcomer, a key resource for anyone interested in fractal designs, and an essential bookshelf reference for the expert.
