Fiction. Mystery. Suspense. Thriller. HTML:

In this original novella from the #1 internationally bestselling author of Never Look Away, sometimes the only thing you can't see is the truth.

Keisha Ceylon, last seen in Linwood Barclay's blockbuster thriller No Time for Goodbye, has perfected her routine. She knows how to pick up clues and lead a desperate person along, charging a cool thousand bucks for her "psychic" skills. Now Keisha is about to ring the doorbell of a home where a man waits for news--any news--about his missing wife.

So the dance between the con woman and the victim's husband begins. But Keisha, blinded by her ability to separate people from their money, has no idea what she is walking into, how many lies and secrets swirl around her, and what kind of danger she should have seen coming--before it is too late.

BONUS: This eBook includes an excerpt from Linwood Barclay's The Accident.

Easy predictable quick read with a good plot. ( )

I knew this book was shorter than most books I've read, and I was expecting to be done with it by evening, at the latest. But I finished it just under 2 hours.

It was a very simple murder story, with the author not going into as much detail as other books I've read. The story unfolded very quickly, and ended as quickly.

The book ends in a cliffhanger that I would have liked to know more about. I know that the author's intention was to probably keep the reader at suspense, but that would have worked better if this book had a second part to it.

It was ok story-wise, and the result of Keyshia and Wendell's face-off made me cringe (due to the happening, not because of the story!). ( )

This is an engaging little quick read, I haven’t read Linwood Barclay’s work before, and I’m not really one for thriller writers, but I was surprised by this title and really enjoyed it. It was perfectly paced, the story covers 3 separate perspectives around a single incident and the aftermath.

Suspense oozes from the story and Linwood’s writing is descriptive and illusive in the same respect. It does a great job showing you the mind of a “psychic”. I put “psychic” in quotation marks because in my opinion there are no such thing, this book – is written as though Linwood’s and my opinion are the same.

The book takes place over roughly a three day period with most of the story happening over what could be an afternoon. The characters were all engaging and there was an equal focus on all the main characters throughout the book, which I found in this context a great way of presenting the story.

Even though I haven’t read any of Linwood Barclay’s titles before, he is definitely an author i would consider going back to in the future. Solid effort. ( )

When Ellie goes missing, her husband and daughter appear on tv to plead for her to come back or for whoever has taken her to let her go. Keisha is a “psychic” who is planning to visit Wendell (Ellie's husband) to offer to “help” him for a fee.

This is a super-short novella and I really enjoyed it. I didn't want to put it down! I do like that he repeats characters in different books – not enough that you need to remember them, but I still think it's a cool idea (Keisha was apparently in No Time for Goodbye). I was a little disappointed in the abrupt ending, but it wasn't enough for me to lower my rating. ( )

Oh, Mr. Barclay. You make the kind of books that stick with a person and make them feel uneasy for days. I love them. ( )
