I had mixed feelings about this book after reading it. I liked the book because the characters were believable and their actions mirrored real world actions. "Grandpa visits me. Grandpa plays with me. Grandpa teaches me." Each of these actions are just a few of the things that Grandpa's do with their grandchildren, which relate to the world and are believable. I also liked the illustrations paired with the short sentences. For example, the Grandpa playing a board game with the child, or the Grandpa teaching the child to fish. However, I did not like the writing/language in this short book. Although it was patterned and organized with consistent short and to the point sentences like, "Grandpa takes me places." I feel that the writing/language is not very engaging and will not therefore hold a child's attention very long. Overall, I feel that the 'big idea' of this story is to give children an idea or representation of what Grandpa's do for their grandchildren. The book shows the reader how much Grandpas's care and love their grandchildren. ( )

Shows different children (both boys and girls) and their grandfathers interacting. The illustrations remind me of childlike drawings. The text is semi-repetitive with the changing text in a different color. This book lends itself creative thinking by choosing new words to fill in the text and possibly extending the book with pictures of your own. ( )
