Engram (titel) is een spoortje herinnering in de hersenen, fragmenten die om een of andere reden tijdelijk onbereikbaar zijn (Oxf. dict.) Meg, jonge arts, ligt vier jaar in coma. Ze komt er heelhuids uit, met verlies van geheugen voor de episode kort voor haar auto-ongeluk, waarbij de chauffeur werd vermoord. Als haar geheugen terug lijkt te komen wordt ze blijkbaar een bedreiging voor de moordenaar(s) die haar via ingewikkelde plannen en manipulaties in hun macht proberen te krijgen. Alles loopt goed af. Redelijk spannend, prettig verteld, geen al te origineel gegeven; ook de presidentsverkiezingen in VS spelen een rol, en ook toespelingen op de huidige president, overigens niet onder zijn eigen naam.
