I received a copy from LibraryThing Members Giveaway in exchange for an honest review.

A short read about a headstrong independent woman determined to leave her past and her old self behind, Sally is a fresh twist on a regular romance story. Faced with a ghost from her past, her world becomes unbalanced and she risks losing the life and identity she has strived to build. How she confronts her past and comes to terms with her present is what this novella is all about.

Written in a first person narrative with dual perspectives gives a great insight in to the thought of the main characters. I am glad that writers such as Hedonist Six understand the need for real life love stories with real life characters that one can relate to. I look forward to reading other titles from you.

I'm sorry, I just really did not like this book. The use of a narrator's point of view was irritating in a book like this, it read like a tennis match. And Sally's motivations for moving from nice girl to femme fatale were not well played out for me. It all seemed very contrived.

It was also too parochial in its use of slang terms. I'm probably just a spoiled American, so many books are set in the US and quite likely those native to elsewhere have the same problem with them that I did with Sally. But there were just entire paragraphs where I just had to guess and move on. I'm used to "wellies" and "telly" and such, but this was overboard.

I did like some of the characters, especially Richard and Aunt Celia and Catherine. But the journalistic viewpoint made it difficult to warm up to anyone. ( )

First thing I have read by this author, and it didn't do much for me. Fairly typical chic-lit type thing. I see from other comments in the bookcrossing review that this is not her usual style, so I'll reserve judgement. ( )
