I quite enjoyed this story of an abused woman falling in love again. The hero was wonderfully written. He was strong and charming but he had a few weak points that made him realistic. I loved how it didn't take long for the heroine's little 4 year old girl to have him wrapped around her finger. The daughter was one of the most realistically written children I've seen in books. Her vocabulary was appropriate and the things that she talked about were not too advanced for her age. It's always so sweet to see how a man can feel so loving towards a child. Highly recommended. Historical romance, set in 1890 Oregon. Widowed Kate is struggling to heal from her abusive husband's cruelty towards her and her daughter. Single neighbor Zach saves her daughter when she fell into a dry well, but he almost dies from the rattlesnakes bites incurred. So, although she frightened by him, she's dutybound to nurse him back to health...and they fall in love. But will they weather the storm that she accidentally killed her first husband and buried him in the rose garden? nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

When her handsome, brawny neighbor Zachariah McGovern almost dies while saving her four-year-old daughter from a near-fatal accident, Kate, despite being deeply wary of the man, brings him into her home to nurse him back to health. Gradually Kate realizes that underneath Zach's rough exterior is a gentle, loving soul who is fiercely protective of Kate and her daughter. Like most of her books, Ms. Anderson writes a good story with some pathos, romance, and plot twists. This is just another of those excellent books. ( )
