In the recent flood, all of the adult collection was damaged beyond repair, including all of the audio visual materials. Only the children's books can be salvaged because that section is upstairs. The Metro Library organization is seeking a temporary location while all patrons are being directed to West branch in Westdale Mall, Hiawatha, and Marion libraries. It will be over a year before the main branch will reopen. The Cedar Rapids library will soon post a wish list on their usual website as soon as they can determine how much of the collection was saved.
