Viz said that the SigIKKI line was specifically for mature audiences. Censoring children's comics is one thing, but this is extremely disappointing.

Like many others, I simply pray that Viz never licenses anything I have an interest in.

Late comment is late, but I have to say I'm really disappointed in Viz. Before hearing of this, the only other non-censoring translation house was Yen Press. DC comics' manga division went and took out twenty pages of the first volume of Tenjo Tenge, and Tokyopop's gone and censored multiple series multiple times (mostly Battle Royale). :/ Dammit, Viz, why'd you have to go and break my heart?

Speaking of Yen Press, I was fairly impressed that they published Sundome, and apparently without censoring it (at least, I haven't heard of it). I'm given to understand that it's sold shrinkwrapped, and it's carefully drawn so that it's just this side of being explicit (lots of implied angles and very obvious sex scenes, but you don't actually see the naked body parts in question, iirc), but it'd still be easy enough to re-crop the panels or apply a blur or mosaic filter over certain ones that skirt too close to the line.

Actually, Viz censored a volume of Fullmetal Alchemist (volume 8) a few years ago:

A minor change perhaps, but still technically censorship.

Seven Seas is another manga publisher with a policy of non-censoring.
