LesMis, My renewal status is 2010 right now. I plan to renew for 2011 but not until I see a better offer than what FS offered me to begin with. I see no point in giving scarce shelf space to books that I have little or no interest in reading, and in fact, even if shelf space were no consideration, I still would not have accepted the current FS offer.
You can list my primary occupation as Artist. I do not work outside my home, but have sold one painting and have others available for sale.

librito, may I say I have always had that fascination with your hometown that others have had for places like Timbuctoo, Marrakech, and Samarkand. The very name is wonderfully melodious: Te-gu-ci-gal-pa. I've never been to Honduras, but if I went I would have to avoid your city so it would never lose its romantic allure!

thank you Django6924! Indeed, Tegucigalpa is a melodious name... It means "silver hill" in its original language. And don't worry about its romantic attraction, you found it everywhere, with our still-colonial buildings, rock-paved streets, the sublime ever-green hills, and our beautiful women (I'm not sure if that's ethic to mention), you found romanticism all over the place!

Sheesh! Miserable Les and his football.
Tell me more about these beautiful women. I'd really like to meet a beautiful Honduran woman who appreciates fine press books.
If you know of one, please ask her to send me some photos… of the books.
I'm really not very good at this 'relationship' thing, am I?
I am a good 'bookkeeper' though, been divorced twice and I kept all my books. Lost two houses and three cars, but I kept the books!
Come to think of it, librito, probably best not to bother about the beautiful Honduran women, bibliophiles or otherwise. Next time I get the conjugal urge, I'll just find a woman that I hate and buy her a house and a car!

I've been an active Folio member for three years, and off-and-on for the 15 years previous. At one time I sold most of my collection during a difficult economic time, but for the past few years I've been building my collection back up. Here's to the madness!

But then why would you want to read when you have the beautiful Welsh coastline to look at?

By the way, if you are on the list and the information is outdated please let me know. Obviously the year of last renewal needs roundly edited; I have set mine now to 2013.

Live in Montreal, Canada though have no idea why. I've tried to escape to New York, Paris, London and Sydney, but Montreal is just... convenient for now. Canadian, but somehow also ended up with Israeli citizenship as a child, though I have no idea why.
Native French/English speaker (like a lot of Montrealers).
I never know how to answer the "what do you do" question. I used to proudly answer "I'm an executive art director working in publishing", which was good for the ego and also happened to be my dream job. Now when I say "I'm a woman of leisure" people assume it's code word for that other profession, but how else to answer? I collect books full-time. I study fine arts. I read quite a lot, obviously. And I walk the dog, rain, snow, hail or shine. Try fitting that into a neat little box! :-)
eta: joined FS in 2013
eta2: will renew in 2014
eta3: sorry LesMis, not making your job easy, am I?

I think I've already said this, but since we're restating the faith, I was born and grew up in Yorkshire. For the past 38 years I have lived in Hertfordshire, the last 9 as a recluse, quarantined in a Shed from whence I occasionally make benign forays to the house at the other end of the garden for meals, comfort breaks, and the acceptance of vital medication (known technically as 'parcels') from the postman. The medication is for a condition that first afflicted me briefly in the late 1970s and then every year from about 1991 or 1992. There is no known cure and I expect little change until they carry me out in a Billy bookcase bound for the Holy Stacks at the Eagle Street Cemetery.

"Tree" in Mandarin is "shu" or "shumu". Both syllables fourth tone (i.e. falling).
More relevant to this website, first tone "shu" (i.e. pronounced level) means "book".
Should "Sioux" be pronounced with a "sh" at the beginning then? Don't tell Susan Ballion.
Oh, incidentally, Birmingham, the original, for me. :)

The year before your name refers to the year that you have renewed up to. So when next renewal date comes along, those who renew (in around 8 weeks?) will be down as 2014 members. i think that works.
Also, to keep things straightforward, I have tried to decipher some nationalities and discern the adjectives from the proper nouns etc.
Therefore if you put up something like....
Cornish, Elven, Londoner; I have plumped for English.
or
Italian American, I have plumped for American, identifying the Italian as the adjective.
or
Kiwi-Australia and South African, I just make a guess.
Forgive me.

Probably the best time to note that I moved to the UK last year, so England, Danish.
I was too upset with postage prices on second hand books so decided to move. Now I'm too upset at the fall in sterling and how strong the Danish krone has become. How many books I could've bought with just that difference.
LesMis, you will have to delete that lonely Danish heading :)

That is my point. Forex markets are complex because you have to deal with macroeconomic data and predictions from TWO economies.
Thus, whenever I see that anyone has a strong opinion about any given pair of currencies, I recommend to place a bet and get rich (I always remember a well-known story by Roald Dahl that mentions that a stock brocker does nothing else than manage other people's bets).
