This prize-winning novel by the late Jose Saramago will be our next Group Read. This will kick-off September 15th. Plenty of time to land a copy. Hope we have a nice crowd!

I'm in and will try and keep to schedule and post some comments this time! Is September 15th the day we start reading or the day we start discussion?

Hi guys! I'm so glad you will be joining us! Spread the word! The reading will commence on the 15th but you know how flexible I am!

Hi, Mark. I'm definitely in too--just have to get the book which shouldn't be a problem. Looking forward to it--it'll be my first Saramago.

I read this book several years ago and probably won't reread the whole thing, but I will follow along with this group read. Portions of this book keep coming back to me and I think about it often so am interested in what others will have to say about it.

I read it a while back, and I have to see if I still have the book, but I'm interested in following along either way.

Count me in! Can't promise that I'll be able to keep up with the group, but I'll try my best :)

This should be fun with so many people chiming in on discussions. I'll be following along with Benita, although I read it just two months ago so it is still fresh in my mind. A pretty unforgettable book!

Hi everyone! It looks like we will have a nice crowd! This always makes me beam like a proud papa!
The book is just over 300 pages, I was thinking of breaking it into 2 weeks. If readers take longer, no problem. If this is okay with the group, that's what I'll do. I'll make up the 1st week's thread very soon.

Sounds good to me too. I may start a little late because I still have about half of Bury Your Dead to finish (and I don't want to rush it) but I read the first chapter of Blindness last week and so far, it's very interesting!

Yes. I LOVED Death with Interruptions and can highly recommend it for anyone who enjoys a satirical examination of the reactions of society and a government bureaucracy when Death decides to .... well ..... change process, so to speak.

Touchstones not happy :-(
