Would you please recommend canadian romantic suspense novels? I have a challenge going on in a book-site for which I want to read something in the romantic suspense -genre and from Canada, and I have a hard time finding a book that fits both "requirements".

Thanks in advance,
Talvikki (from Finland)

I find the Québécois are particularly adept. I'm sure the titles are available in English.
Arlette Cousture's series Les filles de Caleb (Émilie, Blanche) is a great example; as is
Marie Laberge's trilogy Le Goût du bonheur (Gabrielle, Adélaïde and Florent). I also really enjoyed
Yves Beauchemin's Le matou et Les Émois d'un marchand de café

Maybe The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson would suit you.

Thank you both for your wonderful suggestions! Cousture's books sound very interesting and I will most certainly try Davidson's The Gargoyle.

However, whether they can be called "romantic suspense" is something I'm not quite sure of... That genre is all about romance and danger/crime/mystery & "damsel in distress". Do you think these novels fit the picture?

Not really for The Gargoyle. I haven't read a good "damsel in distress" in ages.

Déjà Dead by Kathy Reichs might fit the bill for a book about danger/crime/mystery/ & damsel in distress. This first book of the Temperance Brennan series is set in Montreal and I consider it Canadian. There is a love interest.

Hmm, I'm having a hard time finding all the ingredients! Andrew Pyper writes some great thrillers: The Killing Circle and Lost Girls are two that I really enjoyed. Great on suspense, but not a lot of emphasis on romance.
Louise Penny is another great murder mystery writer, but, again, her main character Inspector Gamache is a happily married man...

Thanks again, you're all being most helpful with this!

Just so you know why I'm asking for something this specific: on a literary forum where I'm one of the founders/administrators (it's all in Finnish so I won't bother asking you to visit :) ) we're having a challenge called "Around the World in Five Genres". Among my random selections I chose North America/Canada/romance, but then thought that "mere" romance would be too easy a genre, so I decided to narrow it down to "romantic suspense", thinking that something along the Victoria Holt -style would be very easy to find...
Obviously not so easy after all :D I probably have to switch it back to "romance" as I've already read a thriller for the challenge as well as fantasy...
