Hello everyone!

I've recently started knitting again and watching Harry Potter movies- the two seem to go hand-in-hand. LOL. (slight pun intended).

Anyways, my latest project is the Invisibility Cloak from Charmed Knits Projects for Fans of Harry Potter by Alison Hansel.

I am in the middle of watching "The Order Oof the Phoenix" and I was wondering if anyone knows of a pattern for Luna Lovegood's blue sweater she is wearing for most of the movie; you see it best when she is feeding the horses that only her and Harry see... The "invisible" ones that pull the carts to Hogwarts. (sorry I forget what their names are).

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated as I am thoroughly enchanted with it and Luna is one of my favorites. :)

Much Bliss & Happy Reading (and knitting),
~Pandora~

Have you tried Ravelry? Someone has posted this pattern for a crocheted Luna Lovegood cardigan, and 40 Ravelry members have made sweaters from this pattern.

If you are a serious knitter, and you are not already a Ravelry member, you should be! Lots of helpful knitters there, and many free patterns. The best thing about the site has to be the photos of finished products, made by users in all sizes and shapes, and with all types of yarns. This can really help you to scope out which patterns will work for you, before you invest a lot of time and money.

Joining is free; they had quite a long waiting list a while back, but I don't know if there is a wait list now.

WOW!!!!! *big hugs* thank you SO much for the ravelry link to the Luna cardigan! I just joined Ravelry.com; my name over there is Scarlettwilight if anyone wants to add me.

For now I'm completely lost as to how to get around on the site, like I said I just joined like 5 minutes ago... It will take me a lil time to settle in but it looks fabulous! Very exciting! :)

Now if only I could find a version of Luna's sweater that's knitted and not crocheted, lol. I never really learned that craft very well. I took a look thru some of the 40 members pics that stem from the first Luna ; but so far they've all been crochet. Oh well.

Thank you SO much for the Ravelry link!!! Do u have a ravelry account too? :)

That's so funny Pandora, I remember trying to get a good look at her sweater in the film (actually the Weasley sweaters are fun too) but I am with you on the not crocheting. If I recall correctly a lot of Luna's items were crocheted. You might search 3 or 4 button cardigans on Ravelry or cropped cardigan and find something similar.

Hi Maren! :)

Thanks for the idea, I will have to do that. I really wish I had learned to crochet so I could make the ones that are based off the Luna one on Ravelry; but I haven't the time or energy to learn so for now I'm just happy knitting! :)

oh and I always find myself gazing at the knitted objects in movies, wondering what kind of yarn it is, how hard it would be to make, etc. In fact, the more I knit the More I find myself doing this LOL!

Kind of like Book Lust, which I have had since oh about age 4, this would be Knit Lust I suppose, haha. :P

BTW, lovely to see you in the GD Ravelry group.

Staring at knitted objects in movies isn't so bad. I have been known to stop people in the street, to ask if I might take a photo of a special cable on their sweater, or (much, much worse) followed after someone, frantically sketching on the run, because I didn't have a camera. Even I know that asking a stranger to stand still for a sketch is just too much!

It is bad. Once on a train a man seemed to think I found him attractive but I was just trying to memorize the cable pattern on his sweater. . .

ROFL!!! Was he disappointed when he found out why you were looking at him?

Ah he never found out I quickly started ignoring him while still trying to remember the cable pattern.. . I also sort of feigned that I had thought I recognized him and he was someone else. To difficult to explain about the sweater pattern.
