Hello

I'm surprised so few of us have diary of a nobody by George and Weedon Grossmith. I wonder why this is? (not why I'm surprised obviously).

I've got it! It is one of the funniest books on social pomposity. There was a new take on it some years ago called Diary of a Somebody which updated the character to experience the same social embarrassment in the 1980s. We English love our snobs. ;)

So have I. Read it some years ago with pleasure, though can recall very few specifics. Think I should re-read sometime soon!

I'm always meaning to get round to reading this. Thanks for reminding me.

If you are in the UK, BBC4 is re-broadcasting the excellent four-part dramatisation as part of it's Edwardian Season.
