Use this thread to tell others of plays currently running at one place or another, share theatre experiences generally.

I`ll make a start. then I`ll have to leave it to the rest of you, as I`m a kind of `binge` LTer - I do a number of messages in a small time, then abstain for a while.

So far this year, my wife and I have been to excellent productions of Harper Lee`s To Kill A Mockingbird, Oscar Wilde`s The Importance of Being Earnest and Somerset Maugham`s The Letter.

Next up, George Bernard Shaw`s Mrs Warren`s profession and J B Priestley`s I Have Been Here Before.

These were/will be in Nottingham, where we used to live, or Derbyshire, where we live now, but most are/were touring.

It may not be everyone's thing, but a friend has just enthused hugely to me about the production of King Lear currently on at Stratford. Unfortunately I won't be able to make it as arrival of baby now too imminent for expeditions!

A friend's son just saw it on a school trip and said it was fantastic!

Just to bring you up to date, the GBS play was a bit of a mixed bag, but you couldn`t help thinking it was remarkably daring for it`s day. The Priestley play I enjoyed, but my wife was disapointed that none of the characters met a violent death !

Last night we saw Agatha christie`s An unexpected guest. That begins with the discovery of a bood-stained body, so my wife liked it a lot better.

Hellooo! I was lurking around some groups and saw this thread here, and had to join up.

I'm off to see King Lear when the RSC come to Newcastle, so I'm glad to hear it's supposed to be good (being as it's my favourite Shakespeare play); I was getting worried when they hadn't let the reviewers in for weeks into the run.

Already been to see Coriolanus, and there's still The Seagull and MacBeth to come too, so if anyone is at the Theatre Royal in Newcastle for these I may be there too!

When is the baby due, Myopic Bookworm?

Congrats! I suspect you won't have any problems finding bedtime stories for the new arrival.

If anyone likes the traditional sort of thriller play, there`s a group touring the UK at present (they do this every year at this time) called the Colin McIntyre group. They do stuff like Ghost train, things by Francis durbridge etc. Not great literature, but tremendous fun.

Not sure how you`d track them down - they may have a web site (I`ve never looked), or there may be a link from the site for the theatre royal, Nott`m, where they appear next month.

I love the theatre, luckily living in County Durham I have some great theatres all within a reasonable driving distance. My most recent one was to see the 39 steps, or rather a comedy version of it. I have never laughed so much!!

I tried hyperlinking it but couldn't get it to work! The webpage had a lot of information from the browser so will at least tell you I went to see it in Newcastle but I'm sure it went all over.

I'm going to see a version of 'The Graduate' next week at The People's Theatre in Newcastle.

I tried putting in a hyperlink but it just wasn't having it!
