A while ago I was watching an interview/tour of his house, and Nick Basbanes was discussing a book about the history of paper he was working on. The tour was filmed a year or two ago, so I was wondering if anyone knew anything about if it was going to be released soon or what?

"Last year, he also was the recipient of a National Endowment for the Humanities Fellowship in support of a work-in-progress, a cultural history of paper and papermaking, tentatively titled Common Bond, to be published next year by Alfred A. Knopf."

I'm currently enjoying his book A Gentle Madness. DeusExLibris was the interview/tour you spoke of on the Internet? I would be interesting in viewing.

Nevermind, I found a link to it off the website christiguc posted.

I'm rewatching the tour at the moment, and there is a note that the book will be released by Knopf this year.

I saw earlier where this book is finally coming out!
On Paper: The Everything of Its Two-Thousand-Year History has a street date of Oct. 15, 2013, runs 488 pages and is listed at $35.
He worked on this so long it must be crammed with information.
Can't wait!

This 2008 video interview on CSPAN with Basbanes mentioned this research project. The tour of his home is rather interesting to me. He should be cataloging on LibraryThing :)

Publishers Weekly did a short Q&A with Basbanes about his new book:

Yes. I have his book On Paper and met him at a book fair and later at a Zamorano Club meeting where he was a presenter around the time of the release I'm sure it was a pet project of his but It didn't speak to me in the same way that his books about book collectors and book collecting did.
