Would you like to see a Dark Tower movie?

I also vote no. The Dark Tower series is too long and detailed to make a good film. Even if several movies were made from it, there would have to be too much cutting of the story to bring it down to film length. I'd be afraid that, if they tried to make a Dark Tower film, the resulting mess would probably be a faint resemblance to the Dark Tower books, and more like the hash that Hollwood created from the original Dune book - unwatchable.

Okay, I vote yes but only in theory. The ENTIRE time I was reading the Dark Tower series, I just kept thinking to myself...what a great movie this would make. The film that played in my head as I was reading it was amazing. I don't know which would suit it best though. A movie? A Lost-type series that goes on for several seasons? A made-for-TV six-parter? I don't know. In reality, I know that any rework of the series would be a disappointment, but that won't stop me from wishing it could be done.

I completely agree. I think if it could be done right, without losing anything crucial, it would be amazing. I can't say that I think it would be possible though. Maybe as a Lost-type series it could be done, but I would be afraid of being disappointed. Something is always lost in the translation.

Depends on the director. I think there are some out there who could make a good Dark Tower series, without losing too much. There would be a lot of people with some very high expectations though.

Bad Robot has returned the rights to the best-selling author. Now Ron Howard, Brian Grazer and Akiva Goldsman are teaming up to tackle the fantasy Western.

The three are in discussions to adapt the material as a movie, to be written by Goldsman and directed by Howard, that would lead to a TV series produced by Imagine's small-screen division

Richie from happy days is going to take on The Dark Tower. King always says his movies don't affect the books he writes. Well I wish that was true and maybe it is for him personally, but this is bad news to me. Disaster

I think a long TV series along the lines of Lost would be the best bet. Although the thing about Lost (as I understand it - never watched it) was the whole question of how it would end - to get that they'd have to completely re-do the ending of DT, and that would incur the wrath of many an SK fan! And of course if it was done as a number of TV series, it would probably get cancelled after two or three...
