The threads on banning got me thinking about a book I read in middle school, the Last Safe Place on Earth. It's about a family in the midwest (I think) dealing with censorship. I remember enjoying it, and I'm going to look for it once I finish this semester next week.

Does anyone else have a book rec. that follows this theme?

Can we include fiction about censorship? "V for Vendetta" is a good graphic novel and an even better movie. If I may quote:

Evie: "Where'd you get all this stuff?"

V: "Oh, here and there, mostly from the vaults of the Ministry of Objectionable Materials."

Evie: "You mean you stole them?"

V: "Oh, heavens no! Stealing implies ownership. You can't steal from the censor, I merely reclaimed them."

Water, I should have mentioned the Last Safe Place on Earth is fiction, YA in fact. I was falling asleep while I typed and had to go back to edit the grammar, lol.

Love that quote, by the way!

waterlily,

Sorry to quibble, but V for Vendetta is a good movie and an even better graphic novel.
