By loading each book into Book Awards, it means that at a click of button the list of books can be accessed on librarything. Takes a bit of work.
I've started entering it as, for example,

1001 Children's Books You Must Read Before You Grow Up (2009, No 185, Age 5 and over)

I'm assuming the book has been published in 2009. I've only added 64, so far.
I've mainly concentrated on books I've recognised as Australian and ones I've enjoyed as a child or I've enjoyed with my children.
Since the list is organised by age groups, I've also tried to add the books that are at the beginning and end of each age group, so that might help with further entries.
To do the entering, just need to start typing and then the rest of the 1001 title should appear and can be clicked on.
To add everything after the opening bracket need to start typing "(2009, " and then a list will appear that can be chosen from.
I hope that makes sense.
:-)

OK, I figured out how to do it. I didn't include the number - I don't think they're ranked.

I'll work on the Ages 12 and older.

Started to pick up Finnish ones, and assorted others...though I noticed that at least #367 is not in anyone's collection, how to tag that one?

Edit: ditto for #709

Edit 2: oh, added them to my collection, tagged them with the award, then removed them from my collection...at the moment they show up on the list, I wonder if they will stay with 0 collections...

Ok, now I started to do it a bit more consistently (started 8+ from the bottom), though I did notice these are a bit trickier than "1001 books" as more books apparently haven't been translated so without any additional info about the book...

For #720 I have no clue if it is the right book or not, the author at least is correct and the title sounds vaguely so that it could be translated "Three Fairy Tales".

5> hdcclassic, you're right. I have 1001 Children's Books You Must Read Before You Grow Up in front of me and it says the book was published as "Tres cuentos de hadas."

Good, having the actual book would help (and based on the reviews I really should get the actual copy), but passing familiarity with several languages does help :)

I'll mention here when I come across other uncertain items.

For anyone who can check, two books I couldn't figure out, though both writers have several books in LT:

#638 Tomb Raiders by Odile Weulersse
#669 Almost Everyone Could Topple by Toon Tellegen

Don't have time to look for them now, but:

#638 = Les pilleurs de sarcophages

#669 = Binja iedereen kon omvallen

Thanks, the first one was the one I suspected, for the second I had no clue :)

Two new ones:
#621 Jules's Rat by Peter Hacks
#629 Schoolboy Jia Li by Qin Wenjun (didn't find the author on LT, but some books in Amazon search...)

Otherwise...#580-730 are now marked in LT

#621 = Jules Ratte

#629 - It's a series. The book doesn't give the title, but I think it might be Nan Sheng Jia Li. I found this record in the New York Public Library's catalog:

Ok, 621 in, 629 not yet (NY Public Library search loads reeeeeally slow)

From 550-580 spread four tricky ones:
#550 Garden by Jiri Trnka (apparently a popular illustrator, so appears on several books by Andersen, Grimm et al).
#566 Little Fox by Istvan Fekete (whose LT page has several titles...in Hungarian)
#569 The King of Copper Mountains by Paul Biegel (ditto, except in Dutch)
#573 The Hedgehog Tree by Antonio Gramsci (whose LT page has loads of titles, none which actually screams "Children's author!")

Stephmo has been busy, and now over half of the titles are tagged...she seems to have had some problematic ones too (listed on the series page), I'll go and see if I can help with any of those...at least one I had already tagged.

#550 Garden = Zahrada
#566 Little Fox = Vuk
#569 The King of Copper Mountains = Het Sleutelkruid
# 573 The Hedgehog Tree = L'albero del riccio

I loaded a few more in the 12+ range, but got stuck on A Jump Into the Other World by Bruno Tognolini.
I think the Italian title is Salto nell'Ultramondo but haven't been able to find it.

One of my cats is upset because I have the book in my lap instead of him! LOL.
