XXX video and DVD collections

How many of you collect and circulate XXX rated materials (DVDs, video, magazines, books etc.)? We have several boxes of donated gay porn videos that we've never officially added to the collection. We're trying to decide whether to sell them or lend them to anyone who still has a VCR. If we start lending these items we'll also try to build a DVD collection of GLBT porn.

If you do collect and circulate porn do you have any guidelines for the collection?

We do have a circulating collection of XXX rated material. Books & DVD's and videos circulate. Magazines do not. Since Quatrefoil is a membership library, only members can check out materials. We also request a $2 donation per item andthey circulate for 2 week and we have a max of 5 items at a time. Alas we do not have ILL or Netflix-like shipping yet. Gotta be local.

We have recently stopped accepting videotape new donations. The circulation has been declining. We'll add it only if it is a movie that is out of print or not released on DVD.

As far as collection guidelines, we look for major studios (Falcon, TLA...) and collect pretty much all queer varieties except the "girl-on-girl-made for Str8 guys". We have about 8,000 movies (mainstream & xxx)
As far as I know, were the only queer library lending porn. Please! Correct me if I'm wrong!

Thanks for the info. This will come in handy. I'm sure you won't be the last to lend adult DVDs. I'm pretty sure we'll be the next. Have you listed them all on LT? I couldn't find any. Wasn't sure how you tagged them.

No...LT is for books only, we do have them cataloged on our website though.

Actually, any format or medium can be listed in Library Thing, including DVDs, VHS, Music CDs. However they have to be manually entered so it is more time consuming.

I stand corrected ;--)
8,000 DVD's + manual data entry=time consuming!

Maybe someday I'll figure out a batch-update, but the books keep me busy enough!

The wwcc Library circulates xxx-rated books but not DVDs the only DVDs we circulate are actual movies and we have about 200+ of them

XXX rated material is one of our biggest circulations. We currently have a volunteer transfering old VHS onto dvd. Esp (or only) the stuff that has never been rereleased on dvd.Our xxx material is not listed on LT but is kept in an in-house data base
