I just finished The Memory Keeper's Daughter by Kim Edwards. I enjoyed the book. It was an easy read, and a sad subject. A doctor delivers his twins and realizes the girl has Downs. He then decides to get rid of the baby before his wife sees her.

The books shows how one impulsive decision can rule your life.

The first three books of the Weather Warden series by Rachel Caine. They are urban fantasy stories about people who can control the elements with the help of dijin. I'm enjoying them a lot and am blowing through the series with pretty much a book a day.

Occasion for Loving by Nadine Gordimer. Brilliant plotting and intricate development of ideas. Far too complex and beautiful to adequately summarise. However, as a portrait of pre-1994 South Africa, it stands as a solemn indictment of apartheid.

Mermaid singing by Charmian Clift. Memoir and travel book at the same time. I loved her writing style and the ability to render each and every image in very vivid colours.

Finished The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield a few days ago. One of the best novels I've read in a long time. An intricate story with gorgeous prose.

I just read In the Heart of the Sea by Nathaniel Philbrick. It's the true story of the Essex, a whaleship that was rammed and sunk by a whale. Very enjoyable, detailed book.

Christopher Howell's Just Waking --if you enjoy poetry at all, it's a worthwhile and relaxing read--just beware you may stay up into the night finishing it

Red River by Lalita Tademy. I loved Cane River so naturally I bought the second novel by Ms Tademy. It was just as good.
