Looking for the definitive books on the New Mexico Campaign and the battle of Chickamauga. These two events really stuck out to me when reading Foote.
Does Peter Cozzens do the job in This Terrible Sound or is there a better book on Chickamauga?
I have no idea where to look for the NM campaign.
Thanks for the help!

Cozzens is a good place to start
I'd also recommend Six Armies in Tennessee for the wider campaign
As for New Mexico:
Sibley's New Mexico Campaign is the only book on the campaign I'm aware of
There are other books out there on the battles, but
Valverde is worth a look

Battles: Bloody Valverde: A Civil War Battle on the Rio Grande, February 21, 1862 by Johm Taylor, Glory, glory, Glorieta : the Gettysburg of the West by Robert Scott, The Battle of Glorieta : Union victory in the West by Don E. I am sure Ammianus, for which this topic is a special interest, will have more suggestions.
