FYI - if you're in the Greater LA area and want to meet others who love books, please come join us!

We have a different book group every Wednesday of each month, all over Los Angeles. These book groups are open to everyone - just simply RSVP on the site (at the bottom of each event page) so we know to expect you. Lots of new people come to our literary events, and we'd love to meet you & hear your thoughts about the reading.

Here's a taste of what we're discussing in the coming weeks and months:

Book Club Light: He's Just Not That Into You - Book club light will offer a monthly selection from some of the popular authors of our time.

Michael Crichton - Next - A walk on the wild side of the future of genetic engineering, the story in "Next" revolves around the implications of legal decisions being made today in that arena.

Westside Book Group: Animal Crackers - The Westside Book Group is exploring this collection of short stories that center around animals...

Santa Monica Book Group: Winter Winds Trio - Gone With the Wind - Sometimes only remembered for the epic motion picture and "Frankly ... I don't give a damn," Gone with the Wind was initially a compelling and entertaining novel. Beyond a doubt, it is one of the most remarkable first novels produced by an American writer.

Tasty Book Group: Hell Bent for Leather - Elizabeth and Shane cohost a book club where we read books about other peoples, lands, cultures and experiences. Then we go to a related-theme dining venue for discussion. This month the yummiest book club ever will be reading Hell Bent for Leather : Confessions of a Heavy Metal Addict by Seb Hunter.

More literary-related events & book clubs.... including selections like The Shadow of the Wind, The Satanic Verses, Artemis Fowl, Artemis Fowl and the Arctic Incident, All the Pretty Horses, Germinal, Blindness, Alice in Wonderland, Through the Looking Glass, Persuasion, Anton Chekhov's Selected Plays, Wind in the Willows, The News From Paraguay, The Namesake, and more....

Not a book club - but literary related:
Hear Science Fiction Short Stories @ North Hollywood - Get your "Geek" on! Enjoy an evening of short story reading with the Los Angeles Science Fantasy Society. Check out the funky collectables at their Los Angeles clubhouse.

Free Hammer Reading: Deborah Eisenberg's "Twilight of the Superheroes" @ Westwood - The Hammer Museum presents ongoing reading series featuring today's most talented and provocative authors.
