David Herbert Donald passes

Some sad news to post today. Dr. David Herbert Donald passed away this past Sunday. He was 88. I have posted the Times article on him below.

His Lincoln bio was one of the first books that I read that really opened my eyes to who Lincoln really was, and left me wanting to know more. I enjoyed all of his works as well as listening to him speak with his Mississippi accent. He will be missed.

I am very sorry to hear this news. While I wasn't a huge fan of Donald's Lincoln biography (I liked it, but wasn't blown away by it), Donald made huge contributions to Lincoln literature, even without his biography. I've got "Lincoln's Herndon"... may have to read that one soon.
