accents

LT doesn't see that "Tim Krabbe" is the same as "Tim Krabbé". I first combined two differente occurences of Krabbe, then two differnces of Krabbé, then combined the both, and finally combined all works that are the same and all translations.
It would be nice if LT would see that "é" can be the same as "e".

I find that sorting in alphabetical order is distorted by the use of accents in titles or names of authors. I am having to resort to omitting the accents but it would be a welcome improvement if accents were accommodated in such way that no alphabetical distortion resulted.

This is a 13 year old topic. The issue has been discussed many times. There is no good way to deal with accents, umlauts, etc. Various languages and countries deal with these characters in different ways. What suits you would upset others who use them constantly. The current situation has at least the advantage that nobody is happy.

(For author pages the issue is that at the time that they were set up URLs could only use a limited character set. Therefore, author page URLs skip non-standard characters. To change this would involve major reprogramming. They can be combined, and once that is done, it is done. At least until a Tim Krabbe shows up who is not Tim Krabbé.)
