Not sure if anyone still participates in this group, but figured I'd post anyway. I read the Chronicles when I was little, so much infact that for a while I had a couple chunks memorized. I reread Prince Caspian so many times my copy split in half. I haven't read much of his apologist work except for Mere Christianity when I was in high school. I joined this group because I'm taking a seminar on Lewis this semester for my Religious Studies major and figured it'd be good to have a place to discuss what I'm learning with like-minded people, discuss ideas for papers, etc.

The first day of the seminar was Monday, and its looking promising. A friend or two of mine are in the course, and it looks like we'll have some interesting conversations. Second meeting is today at 2. I've been reading his biography written by Sayer, and I'm intrigued. I can certainly see how he'd be inspirational for Christians, but he was also an absolute genius intellectually. I have yet to meet a six year old who writes short stories and creates his own world on paper other than Lewis, who created Boxen. I actually found a copy of the book with commentary by a Lewis scholar through ILL. I requested it and I'm going to look through it and take it in to class when I get it.

Sounds like you're going to enjoy that seminar. Let us (me?) know what you think of the book when you get it.

I hope you enjoy the seminars and learn a lot too. What books are being discussed or studied? Try The Great Divorce or God In the Dock when you have time.

The reading list is as follows:

Jack: a Life of CS Lewis

surprised by Joy

the Screwtape Letters

Mere Christianity

a Grief Observed

the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe

God in the Dock

We've read everything except Grief Observed, and God in the Dock, we're in the middle of the latter at the moment. Its proving to be an interesting experience. Not being a traditional Christian I'm probably not getting quite the same things out of it that many of my Christian classmates are. However its still been interesting getting into the mind of such a genius.

Wow, how I wish you had written further. I pray that CSL inspired you as he has so many of us. I wish you had read the Great Divorce (about heaven and the things that may have been holding you back from Christian faith).
