Like many other LTers, I am afflicted by mild OCD and like to tidy things up. A look at the 'author' Penguin shows a jumble of largely unrelated works (except by having the same publisher). I have separated Penguin Books as an 'author' for catalogues and other authorless books produced by the publishers and dealing with book production, design, etc. There are some works which don't fit that criterion but it is, IMHO, a reasonable move. Disambiguation statements are on both author pages.

There have been discussions on 'Site Talk' about cataloguing Realia - i.e. non-book stuff. I had already added a pack of Penguin playing cards (did have an ISBN) and found an entry for two Penguin mugs. I have allocated my cards, and, for good measure a couple of espresso cups, to the 'author' Penguin Paraphenalia and combined Penguin Mugs with it. We can wait for deck chairs, tea towels and pencils with bated breath ;)

Finally, I have started cataloguing The Penguin Collector with the 'author' Penguin Collectors Society. As I understand it combining works is much easier if an author of some description is present.

Some Penguin enthusiasts may find these suggestions helpful or may have something better to propose.
